Tips for Showing Teachers Some Well-Deserved Appreciation

Alphabet Blocks and ChalkboardTips for Showing Teachers Some Well-Deserved Appreciation

You know that teachers are an important part of your children’s lives.

They are more than just the people who hang out with your kids five days a week; they prepare the younger generation for the world, teaching and guiding them through the most important years their lives.

Teachers work so hard for you and your children, and with Teacher Appreciation Day coming up on May 7th, this is the time to show them how much you appreciate it.

Never underestimate the power of a handwritten note

Taking the time to express your gratitude in words will make a lasting impression and it is something the teacher will cherish for years to come. Thank them for all the ways they have helped your child grow, and recall specific examples of times you have been grateful for their guidance and involvement. Not only will it bring a smile to their face, it will help them remember why they started teaching in the first place.

Get the kids involved

It isn’t a coincidence your children have come home with cute pasta jewelry or hand print portraits to give you every holiday. So why not return the favor and have your kids make something for their teachers? Sitting down with the kids to make something special for their teachers is not just a great experience for you; it makes the kids feel like they are doing something important. By taking the time to think about what their own teacher would enjoy, children are reminded of all the ways their teachers have helped them.

Treat them with something they wouldn’t get for themselves

And if you want to go just a little bit further with your showing of appreciation, why not get the teachers something they wouldn’t buy themselves? A nice coffee set would help on all those early mornings, or a basket full of pampering supplies would help them unwind after a long day of keeping up with the kiddos.

These small but meaningful gestures can go a long way to thank teachers for all the ways they help better our lives.
