“I think helping them [women] to believe that working their passion will translate to success in any endeavor because that passion is what they were meant to do.”

My name is Victoria Savage. I’m the owner and founder of Care for Living, LLC., a Geriatric Care Management Company.  At Care for Living we do everything possible to keep seniors in their own home, while improving their health when possible, increasing their safety, and  enhancing their quality of life.

As an RN of 21 years I saw all too often people being admitted to facilities for very preventable reasons.  I founded Care for Living to help prevent as many of these needless admissions as possible and offer more people the opportunity to remain at home longer if not forever.

Advocacy is an integral part of what I do.

21 years of diverse nursing work experience has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the medical system from the MD office, to the hospital, as well as assisted living, long term care, and hospice.  This allows me to effectively guide my clients through these settings while ensuring they have a voice and are receiving appropriate care.

What inspires you? Being able to step into a situation where  things are not working in favor of my client, and make changes that help them prosper again.

Do you have a favorite quote? “We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.”  Benjamin Franklin

What are the most pressing issues facing women today? Many women today are part of the “Sandwich Generation”.  These are the women trying to maintain a balance between caring for their immediate family, and trying to meet their own needs, while providing care for their senior loved ones as well.  In my opinion these women are true heros.

What are the biggest keys to your success? Identifying what my passion is, accepting that I have something valuable to offer, and embracing and capitalizing on my inherent strengths.

What are the biggest keys to the advancement or success of women? I think helping them [women] to believe that working their passion will translate to success in any endeavor because that passion is what they were meant to do.

Where did the inspiration for your business come from? Years of watching people either decline in health or end up in facility care for reasons that were absolutely preventable. In every position I’ve held, the aspect I enjoyed the most which made me feel absolutely aligned was making happen exactly what needed to happen for my patients so that they had the best chance possible to be successful in their recovery.

Where is your product sold (if applicable)? I developed a shake especially for people with diminished appetites that gives them nearly complete nutrition in one portion a day.

What advice do you have for a woman who is considering starting a business? Be fierce in your commitment, and expect that to be successful, you will most likely be embarking on a spiritual journey as well. Do not listen to the voice inside you providing you with doubtful thoughts.

What are the biggest hurdles you have faced in starting or growing your business? Believing without a shadow of a doubt that I could do it, that I deserved to be successful and to keep looking at the end result, not what was l was seeing in front of me at the moment.

How did you overcome these? Continual connection and communication with my higher power. My nature was always to think that I was a great assistant to the leader but never quite good enough to be the leader.
