Tell us about yourself
Having worked as a faux finish painter, muralist, art teacher and graphic designer, my education is in art and anthropology. With food and skin allergies, I have been a label reader since I can remember, learning about natural and healthy ingredients from an early age. I love re-purposing and crafting as well, so starting Glob combined many interests of mine.

Where did the inspiration for your business come from?
Being an artist, I have been exposed to all kinds of paints and art products. And though I have had reactions to the chemical additives, I’ve suffered through it, thinking it just came with the territory.
But in recent years, with all the new information about chemicals in cosmetics and other products we eat with, drink out of, or our children play with, I began to wonder why arts and crafts were not being scrutinized in the same way.
A few years ago, when my chemist friend dropped by with a house paint he was developing from cactus, I also wondered why there were low VOC and eco-friendly alternatives for house paints, but not natural, or sustainable products for the arts.
And so the seed was planted and I began to search for natural, non-toxic art pigments.
I developed Glob, using only natural, botanical sources for the colors, such as herbs, seeds, fruits, and vegetables. I found these pigments to be the most vibrant, as well as having been used safely and effectively for color since the beginning of time.
I am proud to have developed safe and natural eco-art products for crafters and kids.
Where is your product sold?
Natural children’s stores, co-ops, gift shops, natural food stores.
What advice do you have for a woman who is considering starting a business?
Take it slow and plan. Ask a lot of questions and make sure you are getting paid what you deserve.
What are the biggest hurdles you’ve faced in starting or growing your business? How did you overcome these?
At times I put too much weight on what others expected from me and my business. I had to pull back, look at what was realistic and manage expectations.
