A few of my favorite things…. this week
Since we made the decision to become a “Made in the USA” household a few years ago, we’ve been able to keep the majority of our purchases to domestically made goods. While it isn’t always easy, my goal is to be better about using the blog to share this information—with the hopes that it will help someone find something he or she is looking for. For apparel, I’ve found some great websit... »
American Made Bedding and Home Furnishings
Hopefully you remember the great giveaway we ran with American Made Dorm and Home! What a wonderful company it was to work with, and such a generous offering it provided to our audience. The company sells comforters, sheets, and accessories (including accent pillows), plus towels and shower curtains. The company also has a brand that does gorgeous baby bedding called Liz & Roo. I just placed a... »
Made in the USA: The 30 Day Journey
I’ve wanted to watch Made in the USA: The 30 Day Journey since it came out two years ago. This morning, in need of some inspiration, I carved out a few hours from work to watch it. While I was hoping for something that would inspire me, unfortunately, I walked away from the movie with no clear resolution. Like Detropia, it paints a grim picture of the American Dream. A picture of the divide betw... »
A Made in the USA Christmas
Christmas in our household is a great time to celebrate Made in America products! While every gift we purchase isn’t Made in the USA, we do our best to support US manufacturing whenever possible. This year, most items were purchased through Amazon. Here are a few of our favorite finds: Craig Frames 5″x7″ photo frames Since we had a new addition to our family this year, we gifted ... »
Is it really Made in the USA?
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been finishing up details for Mia’s nursery. Since very few local retailers carry Made in the USA, I’ve been shopping mostly online, at sites like Amazon and Etsy, and by completing searches for USA made online. I’ve had multiple items show up to my doorstep that I expected were USA made, only to open them up and find a “Made in China” tag. ... »
Beat the Summer Heat!
Since we buy mostly organic, and wanted Ella to have good quality freezer pops, we decided to look for some molds instead of buying the expensive freezer pops at our local grocery store. This way, we could also control ingredients and try out as many flavors as we can imagine. After a little research, we bought these freezer pop molds from Arrow via Amazon. We made our first batch of freezer pops... »
Great USA made finds for Ella’s Big Girl Room
We transitioned Ella into her “big girl room” recently, and I found some great Made in the USA products I have to share! First off, her toddler bed came from Little Colorado. Not only is it cute and affordable, it’s well-built and easy to assemble. The sheets come from Sheetworld, which is where I plan to get Mia’s sheets, too. They have a whole line of sheetsin varying sizes. Since our... »
Investing in Equality
I’m always excited when I stumble upon something that helps put important information into perspective! Women Deliver is a global advocacy organization bringing together voices from around the world to call for action to improve the health and well-being of girls and women. This organization has put together some great infographics around the theme Invest in Girls and Women: Everybody Wins.... »
Choose consignment as an alternative
Since we’ve made the commitment to support (buy and promote) USA Made products whenever we can, we’ve had to become a bit more creative when it comes to our shopping habits. For our daughter, almost all of her clothes have either been gifted to us, were consignment purchases, or have the “made in the USA” label on them. For anyone new to this site, there are many reasons why we are buyin... »
